JOB – Senior Transportation Engineer

LOCATION – California (Hybrid / Office-Based)

TERM – Direct Hire

SALARY - $130,000 - $170,000 + Bonus (Profit Sharing)

A dynamic civil engineering consultancy is looking for a Senior Transportation Engineer to help drive design excellence and project delivery across a variety of public and private infrastructure projects. This is a key leadership role for a licensed professional who enjoys both the technical and strategic aspects of civil engineering—from overseeing design work to mentoring junior staff and supporting long-term client success.

The Senior Transportation Engineer will ideally have the following background:

• Degree in Civil Engineering (B.S. minimum).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in California, or the ability to quickly obtain reciprocity.
• At least 8 years of progressive experience in site development, transportation, or municipal infrastructure design.
• Highly skilled in design platforms like AutoCAD Civil 3D, with strong familiarity in ArcGIS and related tools.
• Deep understanding of California engineering standards, including Caltrans, Greenbook, AASHTO, and MUTCD.
• Knowledgeable in construction practices and permitting processes.
• Exposure to specialized projects such as industrial facilities, waterfront developments, or utility corridors is a plus.
• Bonus: experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads, or InRoads platforms.
• Confident communicator with the ability to lead internal teams and interface directly with clients and external stakeholders.

The Senior Transportation Engineer’s responsibilities will include:

• Leading the design and development of civil infrastructure projects—from concept to final plan delivery.
• Overseeing layout and design for utilities, streets, grading, drainage, and roadway systems.
• Guiding project workflows to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery across cross-functional teams.
• Performing risk reviews and contributing to smart, practical design solutions.
• Ensuring all project work aligns with relevant codes, regulations, and permitting requirements.
• Conducting field reviews and participating in quality assurance for ongoing construction.
• Mentoring engineers and designers at various stages of their professional growth.
• Building and maintaining strong, responsive client relationships with a focus on service and delivery.
• Representing the firm as a trusted technical advisor in meetings and presentations.
