Entry to Mid-Level Software Engineer

Job Summary:

Real-Comp is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Entry to Mid-Level Software Engineer to join our technology team in Austin, TX. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of our core software systems while learning and expanding your skillset. You will work collaboratively with experienced team mates on a variety of projects, contributing to the design, implementation, and deployment of robust and scalable solutions. This position offers a hybrid work environment, requiring 3 days per week in our Austin office.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Write clean, well-documented, and efficient code primarily in Java.
  • Work within a Linux environment for development and deployment.
  • Utilize Docker for containerization and deployment of applications.
  • Deploy and manage applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Collaborate effectively with team members using Git for version control.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and production issues.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and tools.
  • Be proactive in learning new technologies and methodologies relevant to the role.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and knowledge sharing.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of software development principles and best practices.
  • Demonstrable expertise in Java programming language.
  • Proficiency in working with Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with Docker for containerization.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform.
  • Proficient in using Git for version control.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • A motivated and proactive personality with a strong desire to learn and grow.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Nice-to-Have Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of data engineering concepts and tools.
  • Familiarity with Vue.js framework for front-end development.
  • Experience with GitLab for version control and CI/CD.
